George Winston in Concert

OCT. 9, 7:30 pm  An Evening with GEORGE WINSTON at First Christian!

GEORGE WINSTON’s piano music came to prominence in the 1980’s with now-classic recordings on the Wyndham Hill label, such as AUTUMNDECEMBER, and WINTER INTO SPRING.  Growing up in Montana, he refers to his style as “rural folk piano.”  Influenced as well by his time in Florida and Mississippi, Mr. Winston incorporates R&B, rock, stride and jazz styles into his music.   Other albums include LINUS & LUCY-THE MUSIC OF VINCEGUARALDI (1996), PLAINS (1999), which was inspired by his Eastern Montana upbringing, NIGHT DIVIDES THE DAY – THE MUSIC OF THE DOORS(2002), MONTANA – A LOVE STORY (2004) and GULF COAST BLUES & IMPRESSIONS – A HURRICANE RELIEF BENEFIT (2006).

The proceeds from the concert and merchandise will go to help two organizations, TheARTS@First, the fine arts ministries at First Christian Church in the Drake neighborhood, and to KFMG Radio FM99.1, “Your Community Voice.”  We are grateful to Mr. Winston for his kindness in doing this benefit concert.  For more information on George Winston you can also visit his website www.georgewinston.com or www.facebook.com/georgewinstonpiano.
